What is gravity?

Discover how gravity affects objects through child-friendly examples, a 3D model and experiments.

Gravity is the fundamental force that makes objects with mass attract each other. The force that pulls everything on Earth towards the ground also helps keep planets in their orbits.

How does gravity work?

The greater a body’s mass, the stronger its pull on the objects around it. That’s why we weigh less on the Moon than on Earth, while our mass stays the same.

Gravity in everyday life

Landing back on the ground after a jump, raindrops falling and planets circling the Sun are all results of gravity.
